The silver and black brushed metal panels on the front and back are durable and look stylish. The 6500 Slide weighs 123 grams and it is a bit chunky and awkward in shape to carry in your pocket if you've been using a lighter, smaller model. Also, the screen is slightly on the dark side and can be tricky to view in direct light.
The phone only comes with 20MB of built-in memory but it does come with a 256MB microSD card which you can slot under the battery cover. This means you can use memory cards up to 4GB, so you can take full advantage of the 6500's media player. The headphones you get with the phone are quite basic and not sound-isolating, but they aren't too bad.
There are twin cameras on the Nokia 6500 Slide to enable video calls. The one on the back has a Carl Zeiss lens and auto-focus. This camera is perhaps not as good as those in some of the N-series range but the pictures are pretty sharp nonetheless.
